Meeting with Karipbek Kuyukov

On April 26, in Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology of Karaganda, within the framework of the “Scientific Wednesday”, students met with the artist and activist of the anti-nuclear movement “Semipalatinsk testing ground-national tragedy” Karipbek Kuyukov, organized by the methodical association of teachers of the Kazakh language and teachers-curators . A Kazakhstani artist, honorary ambassador of the Atom global project, Karipbek Kuyukov has been announced the winner of the 2018 “For a Nuclear-Free Future” award. As an active fighter for stopping nuclear weapons tests and ultimately for freeing the world from nuclear weapons in 2017, Atom’s honorary ambassador Karipbek Kuyukov was invited to the ceremony of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to destroy nuclear weapons. 
He was born without hands as a result of radiation exposure, to which his parents were subjected during nuclear tests at the Semipalatinsk test site. Karipbek dedicated his creativity and his life to establishing a world in which no one anywhere would feel the disastrous consequences of nuclear weapon tests. The purpose of this meeting was to form public opinion on environmental issues, to encourage students to love life, love art, self-actualize and clearly define their citizenship. Pupils of the school asked a lot of questions, were delighted with the persistence, character and creativity of this person.
